@paws for thought…Woof!! & eMTD….thnks for your respond. I still think the answer is Iris Scan because Voice recognition can be faked. Besides Iris Scan is the best type of biometrics authentication.

hello, First hit from google search using "behavioural biometrics" as the search, turned up what appears to be a research doc on behavioural biometrics….

to Quote…"Biometric techniques can be divided into physiological and behavioural. A physiological trait tends to be a more
stable physical characteristic, such as ?nger print, hand silhouette, blood vessel pattern in the hand, face or back
of the eye. A behavioural characteristic is a re?ection of an individual’s psychology. Because of the variability
over time of most behavioural characteristics, a biometric system needs to be designed to be more dynamic and
      accept some degree of variability…."

"Another behavioural biometric technique is speaker recognition via his voice print"

      hope that helps.

For more info, conduct the same search and in you check the URL at bottom of hit, it looks like this…

I just saw my first enhanced version of this file on this site!!!!

Please let me know what you think of my work. I hope to have another 56 questions answered and uploaded tonight. However, it may take a day or so to show up here.

@nym I have not researched this one yet. However, after looking at the question I would have to agree with you.

should number 124 be C (Iris Scan) instead of A (Voice recognition)?

i wouldn't worry about it; the question won't be on the test, considering it's a faulty question from end to end. since ups's and generators are both backup power, comptia wouldn't put such a question on their exam. the question should read, "Which of the following technologies will ensure the datacenter remains operational until a backup generator can be obtained", in which the answer would be UPS, or it should read "Which of the following technologies will ensure the datacenter remains operational until power is restored?", in which case backup generator would be the answer. But in the context of the faulty question, i guess UPS would be right. i was just thinking that a UPS could never really ensure the operationality of the datacenter since they're so limited in time.

thanks for recommending that i should google it. as an IT guy, i never would have thought of that. i'm glad i found this site by googling it, it's so helpful.

eMTD is correct. "Backup Power" is a generator. Generators are not running all the time (waste of fuel). Generators will kick on when there is an outage detected on the primary power source from the utility company. Backup power from a generator is not "instant on" as it takes a few minutes for it to stabilize. During that period from when the power outage occured to the time when "backup power" is established from the generator, a UPS provides the needed power.

@Excalibur, I need more convening. Follow my point…

      Power = Power company
Backup power = Generator (long term)
Backup power = UPS (short term)

The questions states "until backup power can be obtained". When you use a generator (a backup power source), there is a delay between power outage and when the generator is fully operational. During that brief time you will need something to keep the datacenter running and would be a UPS.

I am contacting a Security+ teacher that I had eariler this year and going to get his thoughts and report back here.

As for any questions you may have about answers to study questions, do what I am doing, read the books or just hit up your best friend … Google. Look for any link that says books, google,…. for the answers. Good luck!!!!

    • Excalibur from United States 10 14 2010, 6:45 PM Report Spam
the answer is backup generator. with your reasoning, UPS would also be disqualified since it's also a form of backup power. the questions says, until backup power can be obtained, indicating it may be an extended period of time. UPS's have very limited power supplying time limits; with a backup generator, though, all you need is gasoline for ongoing power.

please look through the questions i posted, and give us your thoughts. i may be taking the test tomorrow, so please do so quickly. i'll be on here all day.

Here is where I get me belief from:

Power generators kick in if a power loss is detected, and they provide power until disabled. The generators require a short amount of time to start providing power, and the battery backup systems provide time for the generators to come online.

I need your input on question 63.

Which of the following technologies will ensure the datacenter remains operational until backup power can be obtained?

At first thought I would agree with Saint and say the answer is "D" Backup generator. But if you read the question carefully, I see the key words <b>"backup power can be obtained"</B>. This leads me to think the answer should be "A" UPS. If the word "backup" were not there, I would then agree with Saint.

      Your thoughts?

I have changed my handle on here from Job Seeker to eMTD.

Also, I am in the process of going through each question and supplying an explanation for each answer. I am looking up each one in various Security+ study books and providing a reference to each answer including the page number. I hope to have the first 56 questions done late tonight.

If anyone wants to take on this project and help me, please let me know. You could start from the last question and I will merge your work with mine. This is a lot of work and will take some time.

Finally, if you KNOW of a question that IS on the REAL test and is not in this VCE, please post the question so I can include it in the final file. My goal is to get the most accurate practice test here as quickly as possible.

paws for thought…Woof!: Here is my thoughts after thinking about this one for a long time.

A penetration test is the best way to tell what services are really running on your system. Penetration testing involves trying to get access to your system from an attacker’s perspective. Typically, you perform this test from a system on the Internet and try to see if you can break in or, at a minimum, get access to services running on your system.

Source: Sybex CompTIA Securit+ Delux Study Guide by Emmett Dulaney pg: 222

*The key word in the question is "aduitor". Had it said "attacker" then I think A would be the correct answer. eMTD

Q44. An auditor would use credentials harvested from a SQL injection attack during which of the following?

Would the answer not be as in the test: A Forensic recovery? Rather than the suggested correction?

I only ask because it states 'harvested from a SQL injection attack' implying it is after an attack. Appologies in advance if I have miss understood.

I just took Exam A and got 6 questions wrong that I feel the answers were wrong not me. Does anyone besides Scott have confidence in this set of questions and its answers?

      Questions 21, 22, 47, 67, 71, and 76 are the ones I don't believe the answers are right.

22 :Which of the following increases availability during periods of electromagnetic interference? (Select TWO).

A: Fiber optic cable, B: Straight-through cable, C: STP cable, D: Crossover cable, E: UTP cable.

The correct answers are A and C but here it says A and E. Even the explanation is bogus,

Your thoughts? Should I continue to use this as a study guide?

oh, one other thing. I may also have scored higher if it is true that some of the answers are wrong… because that means I memorized the wrong answer and got it wrong on the test. No matter, there aren't enough wrong answers to affect the outcome.

I got this download on 10 1st, (560 questions) and studied it for 2 days. I took the Security+ test on Sunday, 10. 3rd. I had almost memorized every answer. The version of the test I took was VERBATIM the same as this download. Every single question from this download was on my test. 05be I got lucky, I don't know. But if you know this info and your version of the test is anywhere near the version I got, you WILL pass. I was a complete newbie to computer security and passed with an 860. It was so easy I finished the exam in 25 minutes. In fact, not only were the questions word for word, the answers were also word for word and in the exact same order. Most of the time I knew which letter was the correct answer before reading through the choices. The only thing that prevented me from getting a perfect score was my imperfect memory.

I agree with most of doramon's corrections. I am iffy about Q76 but can make a case for it with principle of least privileged. I only disagree with Q108, which I believe is A. Identity proofing, verifying one's identity, is separate from the authentication process.

I also propose the following addition corrections:
      Q75 – A
      Q101 – C
      Q111 – A
      Q117 – C
      Q126 – C
      Q451 – B

I sent to my friends who has Test1Pass yesterday, and he very Test1Pass answers are the same as what Doramon mentioned. 1-100 are 70%, so it means if those are right on vce, Doramon would have fail the exam badly.

I do believe he is right on most of them but a couple could be iffy I believe. The question 16 one with ECC or TKIP could be either one so I dont know that you can be all certain on that one.

Ok, Ive gone through 300 questions of this one now and what concerns me now is after the first 200 which truly looked liked new questions I hit Exam C and most of the questions in that section seem to be old and quite possibly not fully valid. Not sure as I havent taken the test yet but from other peoples responses to old dumps these questions were in them and most said they were not on the test. Ive had enough for the moment and will take a break from it.

I agree the only viable answer to me is A. I have never seen anything stating reverse engineering and your right I would never install a non-vender patch either. Sure would be nice to know that A was correct for sure.

Are these answers the way the show up on the PDF or do you have to put the answers in when it is converted into a vce? Im just curious if the pdf has the correct answers and they are just wrong on the vce?

@Tester, that last question, would just be process of elimination I guess. Although, I have never heard of reversing patches. I wouldn't apply a non-vendor supplied patch anyway, though, so….. At any rate, are these being fixed by Saint? Has anyone looked at the other sections?

      Exam B: Question 5
Which of the following is part of the patch management process?
      A. Documenting the security assement and decesion
      B. Reverse engineering non-vendor supplied patches
      C. Examing Firewall and NIDS logs
      D. Replacing aging network and computing equipment

Stated correct answer is B. I honestly have no idea but the answer seems off to me. Cant find anything on it though.
