      "show controllers serial 0/0" output is shown. Can someone please explain how you can tell the wrong type of cable is attached from this output?

      It is the correct table, because the exhibit refers to a v35. Because we do not know what type of router, we can assume it is the correct cable. I assume, that they let you see the output for the DCE/DTE. If they do then it can only be a cable issue.

      My understanding of this question is that the exhibit shows two routers being connected via their serial ports with one being the DTE and the other being the DCE. From the “show controllers serial 0/0” command on R1 we can see the following output.

      R1# show controller serial 0/0

      HD unit 0, idb = 0xD21B4, driver structure 0xD7640
      Buffer size 1524 HD Unit0,
      V.35 cable
      RX ring with 16 entries at 0×622800
      <<Output omitted>>
      RX ring with 16 entries at 0×622800
      <<Output omitted>>

      Based on the exhibit and above output, we see that one router is a DTE and the other is a DCE therefore, there will be a DTE/DCE cable connecting these routers. With no information in the command output indicating that there is an issue with the clock rates, we can determine that the cable is the issue.

      We can confirm this because, had the correct cable been used the output would look like the output below which, shows the type of cable attached that matches the DTE and would show DCE if the show command was ran on R2.

      R1#show controller serial 0/0

      HD unit 1, idb = 0x1DBFEC, driver structure at 0x1E35D0
      Buffer size 1524 HD unit 1, V.35 DTE cable

      Can anyone explain this question:

      "An administrator cannot connect from R1 to R2. To troubleshoot this problem, the administrator has entered the command shown in the exhibit.Based on the output shown, what could be the problem?"
